My name is Anthony Bushnell, and as the managing attorney for The Bushnell Law Firm, LLC, my goal is to do for my client what I would want a lawyer to do for me in the same situation.  That means diligently finding the best legal strategy and approach to resolve the case to my client's benefit, and doing it for as low a cost as possible without wasting time on unnecessary research or paper pushing.  Advocating for my clients' interests and protecting their rights is something I take seriously.  Whether in negotiations or in court, my top priorities are protecting my client and focusing on a swift resolution of the dispute or charge at issue.  Being your attorney means that it is my job to protect you and your interests using legal insight, ingenuity, and confident negotiating power.  That's the "smart" part.

The reason I say "for real people" is that, whether my client is a business or an individual, I know that what happens in a case affects a real person.  I know that the legal matter I'm handling isn't just going to make a difference on paper - it's also going to have an effect on your life.  A real person is going to deal with the stress of this legal problem until it can be resolved, and how it is resolved will make a difference in how quickly you can move on and get back to the important things in life.  You need an attorney who understands this and finds solutions that help you get back to living.  I use my legal expertise to help regular people get the best results from the law.

Mr. Bushnell has begun teaching as an adjunct Lawyering Program Instructor at the University of Minnesota Law School.  The Lawyering Program is designed to allow law students to learn and practice the skills that are used day to day in real legal representation.  The program is required for all first-year law students.

The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled today that a joint owner of a vehicle used in a crime by another joint owner can't use the "innocent owner" defense to avoid having the vehicle seized by authorities and forfeited.  ... Today's ruling, Laase vs. 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, takes that defense away from a joint owner if the crime was committed by another joint owner.
